Welcome to the Functional Polymers Laboratory of the department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Patras.

We conduct basic research in functional polymeric materials for biomedical applications. Of particular interest is the study and understanding of structure-property relationships at the nanoscale level in order to design new materials with applications in controlled drug and cell delivery, pharmaceutical technologies, and regenerative medicine.

Research projects include:

shear thinning injectable hydrogels for 3d bioprinting
Polymer coated Gold nanoparticles for cancer therapeutics
"Smart" polymers for targeted drug delivery
controlled delivery of multiple drug molecules
Our latest publication: Dually crosslinked injectable alginate-based graft copolymer thermoresponsive hydrogels as 3D printing bioinks for cell spheroid growth and release
